It’s hard to believe it’s been 9 months and 33 editions since we decided to turn Hiring Happens into a weekly note.
When we started, the goal was pretty straightforward. We wanted a place to share our candid perspective around hiring, the labor market, and anything else that caught our eye. Not just headlines or data releases, but what we and our team were seeing in actual conversations with candidates, hiring managers, and leaders across Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.
We also wanted it to feel human. Conversational, not “marketing fluff.” Closer to what you’d talk about over coffee versus what you’d read in another AI-generated article on what the latest shift in the unemployment rate from 3.6% to 3.7% means for you. It’s been a labor of love, but along the way, it has become a habit that we’ve enjoyed more than we expected.
As we close out the year, we wanted to leave you with a few reflections:
- Perspective matters. The world is changing, but that is not new. Evolve as needed, but resist the urge to overreact. Executing on the fundamentals ultimately drives success.
- Hiring is still deeply local. National narratives may set the stage, but regional and industry-specific dynamics lead the way.
- ****** Happens. And it doesn’t always show up neatly in the data. The signal is often in the conversations first.
And now, on to something new… we are excited to announce that there is an additional place where you can connect with us:
We will still arrive in your inbox weekly, but you can now revisit past editions and learn a bit about our team here at Spherion South Central WI & Northern IL.
As for us, we’re taking a hiatus and will return in the new year. We wish you a holiday season filled with health, happiness, and time spent with loved ones.
Looking forward to continuing the conversation in 2026.
Until next year,
Your Spherion South Central WI & Northern IL team
