100 words

On job descriptions, Einstein, and being concise

One of us recently finished an Einstein biography.

What stuck: the 1905 paper that gave us E=mc² is three pages long. His doctoral thesis that same year came back from Zurich for being too short. He added a sentence. Accepted.

Which brings us to job descriptions. Most are long because length felt safe, not because anyone thought hard. AI makes length effortless, and effortless is the problem. Length used to cost the writer something.

So: write your next one in a hundred words. If you can’t, the job itself probably isn’t clear yet.

We’d write more, but that’s 100 words.

Until next time,

Your Spherion WI & Northern IL team
